No essential skills of Czech language are necessary. The student can be a total beginner.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course is prepared for foreign students. The aim of the course is the reaching of A1 level of their Czech language according to the descriptor of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. After the completion of the course, the students will gain the following language skills:
- the students understand basic phrases which are needed for everyday communication and can use these expressions and phrases
- can introduce themselves and other people and ask simple questions concerning well known: places, people and things and react to similar questions
- they can read simple texts (notices, signs, etc.)
- they can write a simple text in Czech language (holiday postcard, fill in a simple form, etc.)
- they are introduced to culture and everyday life in the Czech Republic
- they are able to perceive the intercultural differences between their native country and the Czech Republic
Learning outcomes
The student can give personal information (address, telephone number, nationality, age, family and hobbies). He/She can discuss with other people what to do, where to go, and make arrangements to meet. He/She can describe past activities and experiences. He/She can write about various aspects of his/her everyday life in simple phrases and sentences. He/She understands numbers, prices and time.

Mid -semester exam 30 %
Exam conditions
The evaluation is based on the aggregate of the points acquired in the semester and and writtent tests. The minimal limit to pass the course is 70 points, i.e. 70% of evaluation, from both the semester and the final tests. The written final test is evaluated within the scope of 0 - 70 points. The students can achieve up to 30 points in the semester test. The maximum number of points the students can achieve from both tests is 100, i.e. 100% of evaluation.

Teacher's information
Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory for full-time students to achieve a 70 % attendance rate in the course of a semester. If a student on an Individual Study Plan is not able to obtain a mid-esmester evaluation, he or she is able to arrange a later date to take a mid-semester test.
