The student has the basic knowledge in the range of the ECDL modules M1, M2, M7 among topics taught in the course and listed below.

Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to supplement or to gain knowledge and practical skills in the use of information technology on the level of advanced user with further extended knowledge in the fields of information theory, enterprise IS management, hardware, software and its creation and data processing. After successful completion of the course the student understands the concepts generaly related to ICT, hardware and software. HStudent is able to work efficiently with the   key applications from MS Office and use their advanced features. Students also know how to process data with databases and are able to use tools for data retrieval. They also know how to algorithmize tasks suited to their overall knowledge and create simple programs. Their skills can be used in further studies, the creation of seminar and undergraduate works and in practice.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course the student understands and can explain key concepts related to ICT, software and hardware. He can also effectively use the Internet and its core services. In addition, the student is familiar with the general features and requirements on applications for processing texts, spreadsheets, presentations and for work with databases. He is also able to work with selected MS Office applications on the level of advanced user. Besides, he can work with databases and can use data search tools. In addition, he can algorithmize tasks with complexity corresponding to his overall knowledge and write the proposed algorithms in the standard form. He is also able to transform these algorithms into executable programs. Student can use these abilities both in further studies and in practice.

  • 1. Presentation Techniques - advanced MS Powerpoint features, other presentation and data visualization tools. 2. Working with Text - advanced MS Word and other (eg. online) word processing tools. 3. Working with table data - MS Excel and solving problems in it, basic and advanced level. 4. Fundamentals of Informatics - data, information, knowledge, information measurement, information theory, numerical systems. 5. Hardware - history, architecture and components 6. Computer networks - principles, Internet, cloud technologies. 7. Software - data storage in PC, layer software structure, operating systems, application and system software. 8. Security in IT - security threats in ICT, data security, computer networks. 9.Algorithms and data structures - algorithm, process and data structures, flowcharts. 10. Fundamentals of algorithmization – problem algorithmization, basic algorithmic procedures, algorithms description. 11. Fundamentals of programming - programming and programming languages, basics of PHP. 12. Working with data - data and databases, relational database, SQL, data analysis and design, other database models, working with   MS Access. 13. Business Informatics - IS in organization, strategic management of IS/ICT, system integration, business intelligence.

Assessment Methods and Assesment Rate
Test – mid-term 30 %
Test – final 70 %
Exam conditions
Midterm test - scoring will be in the range of ~ 0-30 points. Content of the test are practical tasks and questionairies from topics Presentation techniques, Working with text and Working with tabular data. For the part-time study program students the test will be accessible for solution from home for one weekend specified by teacher. The final test - the form of questionaire in IS and possible practical tasks realized in examination period. The maximum score is 70 points. The contents of this test are topics covered in lectures and seminars not covered in the midterm test. Points for both tests are summed. Grading of the course: First Test/Seminar Work/ … : maximum 30% (0-30 points), Final Test: maximum 70% (0-70 points). Successful graduates of the course have to get totally at least 70 points: A: A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.
