Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course objective is to improve the language competence level in general language to B2 level according to CEFR in all productive and receptive skills. The students who have completed the course successfully can follow a complicated exchange of opinions, they can understand the majority of films that maintain received pronunciation. They can understand articles and news depicting contemporary problems and texts that belong among contemporary literature. They can take part in the conversation with native speakers and speak fluently and spontaneously. They can explain their point of view concerning contemporary problems and state advantages and disadvantages of various solutions. Their range of vocabulary is sufficient to create clear descriptions, without longer hesitations and with the help of subordinate clauses. They are able to avoid mistakes which could cause misunderstanding. They can initiate, maintain and close the conversation. They are able to conduct a clear, structured and well-developed presentation, in which they highlight the main ideas, include sufficient detail information, develop the ideas and supports them by additional arguments and relevant examples. They are able to write a film, a book or a play review. They are able to paraphrase in order to make up for inadequacies in their vocabulary and grammar both in written and spoken form.

having finished the course, the student will be able to: -understand several types of professional and colloquial texts
-deduce meaning from unknown words in a specific context
-understand detailed information from listening exercises and take relevant notes
-use all English tenses and aspects and make questions thereof
-recount various types of stories and express feelings and wishes
-speak about fashion, health, illnesses, films and literature
- produce a text with a complicated plot
-write a description, argumentative essay and a story

Seminars will take place face-to-face in the school premises.

Students are active during the lessons and perform tasks assigned by teachers. The learning material of ACJ_5 is from 1st to 5th lesson of the textbook. The attendance at lessons is governed by Internal Regulations of ITB (keeping records of students' attendance at ITB). The compulsory attendance for full-time students is 70% at the face-to-face lessons, i.e. all lessons subject to lectures.

In the event of failing the requirements for 'zápočet' before the deadline, students are entitled to one retake. The examination date for the retake is announced by a teacher or guarantor of the subject within the prescribed exam period. The continuous and final assessment shall also apply to students with ISP. The student and teacher will agree on the specific date of the continuous assessment. The date must be set no later than two weeks before the end of the semester.
