The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course objective is to deepen the student´s language knowledge to the level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. After the successful completion of the course, students are able to: understand the main thoughts of the clear, standard input information concerning common topics (at school, work, free time, etc.), to maintain most communication situations that can happen while travelling in English-speaking countries,write a short, simple coherent text on a familiar topic or topics of his/her interest,describe his/her experience, dreams and targets, express his/her opinions, talk about plans. The student´s oral (or written) communication can contain some stylistical, lexical or grammar inaccuracies, which do not hinder the understanding. The aim is a further and gradual development of communication skills. The student is trained to gradually achieve the level of B1 in accordance with the CEFR. The emphasis is put on the dialogical skills development and reading comprehension.
Learning outcomes
The students understand the main ideas in a spoken language on common topics. They understand short texts that contain vocabulary often used in everyday life or that are related to their work. They are able to keep the conversation on topics that are familiar to them or that are related to everyday life. They can tell a story or the contents of a book or movie and describe their reactions. They are able to write simple, coherent texts on topics they know well or which they are personally interested in.

Semester test 30 points (30 % = 25 points for speaking exam, 5 points for written exam during the semester) - full-time students 30 %

Exam conditions
Full-time form of study:

Grading of the course both for full-time students: an exam during the semester, written test in the examination period. Successful graduates of the course have to get at least 70 points (from both parts together).

Continuous evaluation:

Semester test 30 % (25 % speaking exam, 5 % written test)

Final test:

Final test using ROPOT in the IS (70 %)

Combined form of study:

Grading of the course both for part-time students: written test in the examination period. Successful graduates of the course have to get at least 70 points.

Final test:

Final test using ROPOT in the IS (100 %)

Teacher's information
Lessons will be a combination of prerecorded videos and powerpoint presentations accessible in the IS during the semester (45 min) and online teaching (practising, reviewing, consultations - 45 min) via MS Teams, with both video and audio recording.

Students are required to actively participate in lessons and complete assigned tasks. ACJ_2 covers units 7-12 of the compulsory course book.

Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of student attendance at ITB). Full-time students are obliged to attend 70 % of the lessons.

In case the student did not comply with the requirements necessary to pass the test, he/she is entitled to take a second test in case he achieved at least 30 % of the requirements.

The course can be recognized as successfully completed if a student passed an internationally recognized language exam (e.g. FCE) at the corresponding level; student have already completed the same or a similar course at another university; student have studied abroad.
