It is possible to distinguish them according to the character of individual members: ØGovernmental organizations (the members are individual governments) ØNon-governmental organizations (the members are legal entities or natural persons) •ICAO - International Civil Aviation Organization. This organization was set up in 1944 at the Chicago Civil Aviation Conference as a government-funded United Nations agency. The primary objective of ICAO is to develop civil aviation principles based on the principles underpinning the UN to support the development of international aviation. Any State that is a member of the United Nations may be admitted as an ICAO member.
