Modul je zaměřen na práci s odborným technickým textem, na specifika tohoto jazyka z hlediska lexikálního a gramatického. Vstupní text modulu strojírenství je nazván „Gear and Belt drive System“. Text podává informace o systému ozubených kol. Popisuje funkci soukolí ozubených kol, přenos sil a kroutícího momentu při otáčení kol. Je zde i uveden jednoduchý přepočet poměru ozubených kol. Součástí modulu jsou doplňující obrazové a textové materiály. V tomto modulu žák procvičuje a osvojuje si specifickou technicky zaměřenou slovní zásobu z oboru strojírenství na téma Systém ozubených kol. Text a cvičení odpovídají úrovni B1 – B1+ Společného evropského referenčního rámce pro jazyky.

Student dokáže porozumět odbornému textu z oboru elektro, umí vyhledávat technické informace v odborném textu a zformulovat odpovědi na otázky k textu. Osvojuje si specifickou odbornou slovní zásobu a učí se ji používat pro účely ústní či písemné profesně zaměřené komunikace. Cílem je mimo jiné, aby se žák dokázal orientovat v odborných schématech s technickým popisem v cizím jazyce a aby tyto informace dokázal použít v praxi.

Gears are toothed wheels that are meshed together to transmit a twisting force (torque) and motion. They are usually attached to a shaft and can be considered a rotating lever. Utilizing leverage principles, gears can enhance or inhibit effort (force) or change effort (force) direction. In the diagram, one gear, labeled the driver (also known as the driving gear) is turned by a motor. As it turns, it turns the other gear, known as the driven gear. A basic rule, concerning gears, state that each gear in a series of gears reverses the direction of rotation of the previous gear.
