The course is offered to students of any study field.
Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim is to present methodology of status and damage of existing cladding construction findings, the principles of maintenance and prevention of failures. The students will know kinds and reasons of cladding failures, methods for their detection and understand to the report. S/he is able to assess the progress of individual façade materials (concrete, bricks, plaster, glass, metals), at repair of details (terraces and balconies) and exchanges of filling openings. After completing the course the student is able to develop, as a result of the survey, a project of remediation and insulation of an object.
Learning outcomes
A graduate is familiar with the types and causes of basic faults of circumferential mantles, methods of their discovery, and intelligence reports of the survey. He is able to evaluate the progress of individual facade materials (concrete, bricks, plaster, glass, metals), repair details (balconies, loggias and terraces) and exchange of holes. Upon completion of the course, the student is able to prepare the project for rehabilitation and insulation of the building based on the result of the survey.

  • Introduction, the concepts of defect and faults Disorders of the classic brick claddings, ceramics, light blocks, reconstruction and repair Faults and defects of repaired and refurbished cladding Reconstruction of basement cladding defects Replacement of cladding panels, windows, doors, walls, requirements, exchange technology Defects of structure facade panels for thermal insulation, corrosion of concrete surfaces Defects, faults and repairs of metal facades Defects, faults and repairs of glass walls, metal-plastic facades Repairs of damaged cladding of timber structures and buildings made of solid timber Shaping of objects, effects of thermal volume changes in the emergence of cladding failures Defects, disorders and repair facade construction of additional balconies terraces Maintenance cycle of cladding structures Prevention of defects and failures of claddings in relation to their load A survey of defective structures

Exam conditions
submitting a project is a condition of admitting to the exam. Grading of the course: First Test/Seminar Work/ … : maximum 30% (0-30 points), Final Test: maximum 70% (0-70 points). Successful graduates of the course have to get totally at least 70 points: A 100 – 90, B 89,99 – 84, C 83,99 – 77, D 76,99 – 73, E 72,99 – 70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99 - 0.

Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory, except of the lectures, for full-time students to attend 70 % lesson of the subjet in a semester.
