The aim of the course is to gain professional knowledge in the field of preparation, processing, presentation and defense of professional texts.
Learning outcomes
After successful completion of the course, the student:
1. can understand the purpose and specifics of a professional text.
2. can understand the structure of a professional text.
3. can understand the individual items of the structure of a professional text.
Syllabus
  • Lectures
  • 1. Introduction to the course (specialization of the course, methods of teaching, conclusion, selection of the topic of the thesis, registration to the NTK). Basics and principles of research and creative work. Copyright and plagiarism.
  • 2. Specifics of individual types of professional work. Work with resources (valuable literature, resources, work of the VŠTE library, searching in databases).
  • 3. Title and introduction of the work.
  • 4. Literature review in the first phase.
  • 5. Literature review in the second phase.
  • 6. Hypotheses or research questions.
  • 7. Methodology in points.
  • 8. Methodology in the text.
  • 9. Results.
  • 10. Discussion of results - definition of basic findings.
  • 11. Discussion of results - completion.
  • 12. Conclusion.
  • 13. Finalization of the text, preparation of the presentation.

Teacher's information
Attendance is compulsory for students in the full-time form of study (both lessons and seminars). Absence not exceeding 30 % need not to be excused. Excused absence exceeding 30 % will only be accepted for serious reasons.

Students in the part-time form of study are obliged to consult their work with the teacher and proof finishing single parts of the seminar work during the period of the semester (according to the instructions of the teacher – sending by e-mails or putting the single parts of the work in IS VSTE):

Introduction (including objective and research questions): 2nd week of the semester

Literature review (the first phase): 4th week of the semester

Literature review (the second phase): 5th week of the semester

Data and Methods: 7th week of the semester

Results: 9th week of the semester

Discussion: 11th week of the semester

Conclusion: 12th week of the semester

Finished seminar work: 13th week of the semester

Presentation will be held in examination period.
