Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the theoretical principles of organizational systems management including their subsystems as well as with the history of management development, manager personalities and basic managerial functions. The student will also be acquainted with the principles of process management and reconfiguration of business processes.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the subject, the student:
1. understands the paradigm of management and its scientific development directions,
2. acquires the classification of the company into systems, its relevant subsystems and the main components of the business environment,
3. understands the basic managerial functions (planning, organizing, decision-making, leadership, communication, control) and importance for business management,
4. acquires the principles of process management,
5. understands the classification of business processes,
6. understands the theoretical principles of the innovation process of business processes,
7. understands the theoretical principles of reconfiguration of business processes,
8. understands the essence of process management of business enterprise models.

  • 1. Introduction to management theory (history of management, premises and paradigm).
  • 2. Definition of the company as a system and its subsystems.
  • 3. Definition of the business environment.
  • 4. Definition, profile and position of the manager.
  • 5. Managerial functions (planning, organizing, decision making).
  • 6. Managerial functions (leadership, communication, control).
  • 7. Origin and definition of process management.
  • 8. Principles of process management in the company.
  • 9. Classification of main business processes.
  • 10. Basics of business processes innovation.
  • 11. Approaches to the evaluation of business processes.
  • 12. Reconfiguration of business processes.
  • 13. Modern trends in process management in business models (digitization of processes).

  • 1. Characteristics of the company from the production and industry sector (engineering, construction, transport) in terms of size categorization, focus, economic situation of the company and the basic characteristics of the industry in which the chosen company operates.
  • 2. Definition and description of the business environment.
  • 3. Unit and process decomposition of organizational system.
  • 4. Setting business goals for individual levels of management.
  • 5. Basic characteristics of enterprise architecture (management, competence relations according to the management levels).

Exam conditions
In order to successfully complete the course, it is necessary to achieve a total of at least 70% of the ongoing and final evaluation under the conditions set out below. In the continuous evaluation, 30 points can be obtained, ie 30%. In the final evaluation, a total of 70 points can be obtained, ie 70%. evaluation (30 - 0): A 100 - 90, B 89.99 - 84, C 83.99 - 77, D 76.99 - 73, E 72.99 - 70, FX 69.99 - 30, F 29, 99 - 0.

As part of the ongoing evaluation the student prepares case study on the topic given by the teacher.

Teacher's information
For full-time students, 70% attendance at seminars and seminars is compulsory. Information for students with an ISP (Individual Study Plan). If a student with an ISP is unable to attend the interim assessment of a course, he/she will complete the interim assessment at a time agreed with the teacher. A student with an Individual Study Plan is required to contact the instructor immediately upon approval of the ISP. If the student fails to do so, his/her ISP will not be considered. Students with an ISP may contact the course advisor via email at strakova@mail.vstecb.cz if they have any questions.
