Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to apply key skills in the process of education in the way of newly acquired knowledge and skills and their application in user practice. Only a well/prepared manager can effectively capitalize on a rich range of acquired experience and practical skills with benefit and synergy effect in business negotiations and workshops.
Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, the student can:
1. define the basic concepts of managerial skills,
2. typology of managers´ personalities,
3. focus on goals,
4. manage your own time,
5. select a sustainable candidate form the job interview,
6. evaluate and constructively criticise employees,
7. solve conflicts in team,
8. deal with people and conduct a disciplinary interview,
9. act assertively,
10. delegate power and responsibilities,
11. lead meetings,
12. coaching work meetings,
13. present your own proposals,
14. apply managerial skills in human resource management in workshops.

  • Lectures
  • 1. Personality typology for managers – the manager’s entry into business practice.
  • 2. Goal orientation – setting priorities.
  • 3. Time management – work organization, work overload, procrastination.
  • 4. Selection interview – goal, classification of candidates, preparation of the environment, job interviews, types of interviews, decision-making time.
  • 5. Evaluation of employees – goal, preparation of the member and the team leader, what to say and how to say it, constructive criticism.
  • 6. Difficult to manage people – goal, basic procedures, types of behaviour, difficult bosses, conflicts in the team.
  • 7. Disciplinary proceedings – goal, art of action, disciplinary interview versus consultation.
  • 8. Assertiveness for managers.
  • 9. Delegation as a way of managerial thinking.
  • 10. Leadership – a well-prepared leader – goal and program of team meeting, leadership meetings, the art of dealing with people.

Exam conditions
In order to successfully complete the subject, a minimum of 70 % of the interim and final assessments must be achieved in aggregate under the conditions set out below. In the interim evaluation, 30 points can be obtained, i.e. 30 %. A total of 70 points, or 70 %, can be obtained in the final assessment. Overall classification of the subject, i.e. points for the final assessment (70 – 0) + points from the interim assessment (30 – 0): A 100-90, B 89,99-84, C 83.99-77, D 76,99-73, E 72,99-70, FX 69,99 – 30, F 29,99-0. The student of the full-time form of study is obliged to meet the mandatory 70 % participation in contact instruction, i.e. everything except lectures. If participation is not met, the student well be automatically classified „F“.

Participation in teaching in all forms is dealt with by a separate internal standard of ITBA (Student attendance records at ITBA). For students in the full-time form of study, 70 % participation in seminars is compulsory.
