Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to reach the B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The course is from unit 1 to unit 6. After a successful completion of ANJ_1 course the student will be able to understand phrases and usual vocabulary regarding circumstances that he or she normally deals with(e.g. basic personal information, family situation, shopping, local geography, job). He or she can understand the meaning of short and clear reports, read less complicated texts and find specific predictable information in regular sources, e.g. advertisements, flyers, menus and timetables. He or she can understand short personal letters, communicate in every-day situations requiring the direct exchange of information about familiar topics and activities, make a short social conversation, describe his or her family, living conditions, education, current or previous job. He or she is able to make notes and reports regarding his or her basic needs or to write a personal letter.
Learning outcomes
He or she can understand a basic text about everyday life of people. He or she can get the main point in short, clear, basic messages and announcements. He or she can discuss what to do, where to go with other people, and make arrangements to meet. He or she can describe past activities and experiences, write about aspects of his or her everyday life in basic phrases and sentences.

Teacher's information
The lessons are provided in a contact form in a mode of seminars in allocated classrooms. Students are required to fulfill their tasks and actively participate in the lessons with the study materials brought with them. Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of ITB (Evidence of attendance of students at ITB). It is compulsory for full-time students to achieve a 70 % attendance rate in the course of a semester. If a student on an Individual Study Plan is not able to obtain a mid-sesmester evaluation, he or she is able to arrange a later date to take a mid-semester test.
