Course objectives supported by learning outcomes
The course learning objective is to deepen knowledge of students in accordance with B1 level descriptor of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, to further develop their communication skills and to unify the knowledge of all students in the course in order to achieve the aforementioned level. Emphasis is put specifically on developing dialogic competencies, understanding the written language, and communication skills related to the ability to have a conversation on general topics.
Learning outcomes
Having successfully completed the course, all students will be able to:
1. understand the main ideas expressed in a standard language on everyday topics;
2. understand texts that contain vocabulary often used in everyday life or related to their work or studies;
3. spontanneously participate in conversations on familiar or everyday topics;
4. tell a story or a plot of a book / film and express their opinion / describe their reactions;
5. write simple texts on familiar or interesting topics.

Exam conditions
Grading of the course both for full-time and part-time students: a semester exam during the semester, written test in the examination period. Successful graduates of the course need to gain at least 70 points (from both parts together).

Continuous assessment:

Semester exam 30 % (e.g. speaking exam, writing, listening, reading comprehension)

Final test:

Final test using ROPOT in the IS (70 %)

Teacher's information
Attendance in lessons is defined in a separate internal standard of the Institute (Attendance record of students at VŠTE). Full-time students are required to participate in at least 70 % of the seminars. They are also required to actively participate in the seminars and fulfill tasks assigned by their teachers.

Students with an individual study plan (ISP) must notify the teacher of this fact no later than the second week of the semester. Students with ISPs must complete a semester exam and the final test. The semester exam will take place on a date agreed with the teacher. The date must be agreed with the teacher no later than two weeks before the end of the teaching period. In case of any questions, please contact the course guarantor.
